At the end of 2019, we were looking for a format that would allow us to bring together our clients, most of whom are families with children. With this invitation we wanted to thank them, but above all we wanted them to get to know each other and connect.

What could be more suitable for adults and children in the pre Christmas season than baking cookies and building and decorating gingerbread houses, and thus getting to know a tradition of their new "home" Germany.

Many of our customers from the Far East and Asia know Christmas more as a commercial affair. This Christian festival, with luxuriously decorated Christmas trees and Christmas markets, is an "export hit" almost all over the world.

But how do you celebrate Christmas in Germany? Because around the 24th of December a number of customs and traditions have developed over time, which are firmly anchored in the Advent season. Stollen, mulled wine, cookies and Christmas music are among them - but how much nicer is it to try your hand at these customs?
For this we met in an event kitchen and everyone was allowed to form, cut, decorate, bake and tinker dough to their heart's content. To be allowed to cut cookies in different funny shapes from the rolled out dough was a joy for both adults and children. But the program did not only include baking cookies, but also the design of gingerbread houses. The children were especially enthusiastic about this - most of them had already heard about "Hansel and Gretel" in connection with German fairy tales.

This opportunity of being together in a cosy Advent atmosphere also gave "our" expats the chance to exchange and network with each other about their first experiences in Germany. Telephone numbers were diligently exchanged and private meetings were arranged.
